James Cilek

Biographical Sketch
Dr. James E. Cilek received his BS in entomology (1974) from Purdue University, his MS in entomology (1981) from Louisiana State University, and his Ph.D. (1989) in entomology from the University of Kentucky. He is a medical/veterinary entomologist and in 2002 received Florida A&M University's College of Engineering Sciences, Technology and Agriculture annual research award for "Raising the Bar of Excellence in Research." That same year he was also nominated, at the university/college level, for Teacher of the Year. As an associate member of the American Registry of Professional Entomologists, he organized and moderated two informal conferences for continuing education credits, one for the North Central Branch (1988) and the second during an ESA Annual Meeting (1989). In 1989, he was awarded ARPE's Outstanding Associate Award. Cilek obtained full BCE membership in 1992 and has continued his membership since then. He has served on the Professional Maintenance and Certification Committee (1995-1996), where he chaired the medical/veterinary entomology sub-specialty in 1997. He has also served on the Board Certified Entomologist Committee, ESA Southeast Branch (1993-1994).
