Biographical Sketch
Dr. Justin Talley received his BS and MS degrees from West Texas A&M University, and his doctorate in entomology from Kansas State University. He joined the Entomology and Plant Pathology faculty at Oklahoma State University in 2006. Now an associate professor, he is recognized for his work in veterinary and food safety entomology with filth flies. Talley was trained as an entomologist by Drs. Broce, Zurek, Schuster, and Clymer throughout his graduate career. He is currently editor-in-chief of ESA’s Arthropod Management Tests. He was recognized as the Outstanding New Extension Educator in 2008 by the Gamma Sigma Delta chapter at Oklahoma State University. He served as Co-Program Chair for the 2011 Southwestern Branch meeting in Amarillo, TX. He is currently the Chair of the Southwestern Branch’s Membership Committee. He has also served as the president of the Kansas/Central States Entomological Society in 2009. Dr. Talley’s current responsibilities include state extension specialist in livestock entomology, research in pest management and food safety issues associated with flies near livestock operations, and teaching two courses (Livestock Entomology and Introduction to Forensic Entomology). He has been actively involved with Southwestern Branch activities by attending meetings and serving as a judge for student competitions.
