ESA Renewal Process

Frequently Asked Questions - Branches

How will this affect my Branch?
How will the new Sections interact with Branches?
Why was the proposal for an international Branch not acted upon?

How will this affect my Branch?

It won’t. The Renewal effort purposely opted against changing the Branch structure at this point. Branches already act in an empowered manner and have a President and Executive Committee. We hope that we can transform Sections toward this same model, albeit on a topical vs. geographical basis.

How will the new Sections interact with Branches?

No differently than now; they do not "compete" with each other in any way. However, the opportunity for Sections and Branches to interact and coordinate programs to enable strategic plans is possible.

Why was the proposal for an International Branch not acted upon?

It was. The Governing Board gave very serious consideration to the development and implementation of an international or corresponding Branch. However, the decision was made that more input was needed and the matter was referred to the International Affairs Committee. They have been charged with the task of developing a plan for the creation of such a Branch. When the details of this have been worked out, assuming that the Committee supports the idea, then the plan will be brought before the membership for a vote and action.
