Will we continue to have a Headquarters office?

Yes. ESA-Central is one of the important pillars of the proposal. It may have the same structure and responsibilities as we have now, or it may take a slightly different form, but there still will always be a central ‘home base’ for ESA.

How will the Annual Meeting change?

The Annual Meeting will be managed as it is today, with a Program Planning Committee with each Section duly represented. The Annual Meeting is an ESA Central activity, so all the basic tenets will remain in place.

Will my dues go up as a result of the Renewal effort?

No. There is no reason that your ESA-Central dues will rise as a result of this effort. The only way that there might be an extra fee is if the Section that you choose to affiliate with decides to self-charge a fee based on specific interests within that Section – but you would have to approve that as a member of the Section. For instance, your Section might decide to join a Scientific Association that grants all members access to their online library. Other Sections, who are not so-aligned and who have no interest in that association would then not be required to accept those costs.

What happens to the Committees and Editorial Boards?

Again there will be very little change to the important committee structure of ESA. We’ll continue to draw from the Sections for staffing of Boards and Committees.
