Section D:

With the approval of new ESA Bylaws in 2007, this Section
ceased to exist at the end of that year.
The subjects that were covered by Section D included the study
of insects and arachnids that adversely affect the health and well-being of humans,
domestic vertebrate animals, and wildlife through direct effects of
transmission of disease-causing agents. Section study encompassed the taxonomy, systematics, developmental biology, ecology, behavior, and control of
arthropods of medical-veterinary importance to include medical, public health,
veterinary, and forensic aspects of entomology and arachnology, epidemiology of
arthropod-borne disease agents, management and control of arbodisease agents
and of arthropod-vector relationships to vertebrate animal diseases. It also
included the social, cultural, historical, and economic impact of arthropods
that adversely affect vertebrate animals.
