Presidential Committees

Presidential committees may be appointed as needed by the President to serve during his/her term. For example, such committees may study a particular topic or develop a recommended course of action. Some presidential committees are ongoing, while others are active for one to a few years.

Please select from the following presidential committees. Ongoing committees are noted as such. Other presidential committees shown below are those that have been active through the previous two years.

Presidential Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships
This committee is charged with investigating and developing a plan for ESA to offer undergraduate scholarships in entomology, with the goal of increasing awareness and attracting students to the field. 

Presidential Committee on YouTube Your Entomology
This committee is charged with evaluating the submitted videos to the "YouTube Your Entomology Contest" in an impartial manner and selecting the award nominees for the top three videos in each of the four categories (outreach, instruction, discovery, and open).

Presidential Committee on Fellows
This committee is charged with reviewing the ESA Fellow nomination requirements, and making a motion (or motions) to the Governing Board to reflect recommendations regarding Fellows' eligibility.

Presidential Committee on the Insect Calendar
This committee is charged with determining the most appropriate process for the selection of images for future ESA insect calendars.

Linnaean Games Committee (Ongoing)
This committee is charged with planning and running the Linnaean Games at the ESA Annual Meeting each year, with consistent rules and procedures and fair and interesting questions.

Presidential Committee on Archives
This committee is assessing the status of ESA archives and developing recommendations to establish structure and process to maintain these extremely important historical documents.

Presidential Committee on ESA Publications
This committee will build a plan to continue and extend the success of ESA publications.

Resolutions Committee
This committee collects and evaluates resolutions submitted by members of the Society during the ESA Annual Meeting. The president appoints three committee members with one serving as chair. The chair presents the resolutions for vote by the membership during the closing session/final business meeting. Presidential Special Committee on Student Transition and Early Professionals Committee [formerly Student & Young Professionals (SYP)]
This committee looks at specific needs that are not being met through other measures to support student and young professional members of ESA. The Committee is a tool for recognizing the perspectives of and experiences from the student and young professional population, and helps develop the next generation of ESA leaders.
