Dawn Wesson called the final business meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. in Room 205 of the Albert B. Sabin Cincinnati Convention Center.

Student competition results will be announced at the general business meeting (with appreciation to head judges, Sandy Allan and Glen Scoles, and their committees).
Election of Editorial Board Members
Journal of Medical Entomology—Nora Besansky was nominated by Jack Petersen, seconded by Dave Taylor, and elected to the editorial board by acclamation.
Environmental Entomology—Mark Blackmore was nominated by Jack Petersen, seconded by Jan Conn, and elected by acclamation.
Book/Media Reviews—Janet McAllister was nominated by Jack Petersen, seconded by Rick Meyer, and elected by acclamation.

Governing Board Report, Ed Schmidtmann Schmidtmann updated the group on the progress of selling the ESA headquarters building, noting that headquarters is anticipating moving to a new, leased office. He also reported that meeting registration had met projections. The new ESA website has received positive response.Publications Council Report
Bill Reisen reported that both submissions and rejections are up. ESA journals are ranked highly by Science Citation Index. Attempts to standardize virus names. Difficulty in getting people to renew subscriptions. (Jan Conn moved for acceptance; Glen Scoles seconded.)Editorial Board Reports

- Moderators for 10-minute papers: Elizabeth Dykstra, Jeff Tomberlin (for Erin Watson) and Nancy Hinkle
- Student competition judges and moderators: 10-minute papers - Sandy Allan (head paper judge), Woody Foster and Don Champagne; posters - Glen Scoles (head poster judge), Jim Cilek and Tom Scott; moderators for papers were Laura Harrington and Doug Norris
- Participants of the student competition (10 papers and 10 posters) plus regular 10-minute papers (n=25) and posters (n=37). The total was 82 presentations for Section D.
Russ Wright from OSU updated group on entomology’s loss of identity and recommended proactive opportunities.

- E-mail communication works well. We will continue to use it. Members can update their profiles with ESA to include their correct e-mail addresses if they are not receiving Section communications.

Conn announced volunteers for the 2004 meeting, including:
Moderators: Gregory Dasch, Alec Gerry, Sandy Allan
Judges for Student Papers: Michael Levin, David Taylor
Judges for Student Posters: Glen Scoles, Angela James
Need two more judges, one for student papers and one for student posters.
Also, Conn recommended that the student paper competitions be scheduled for Monday morning (completed by noon) and that student winners be announced both immediately following the Linnaean Games and again during the Final Business Meetings. Lysyk seconded and the motion was approved.
Recommended that effort be made not to schedule Section D symposia opposite acarology presentations on Sunday.
Chair Conn expressed appreciation to former Chair Wesson.
Wesson moved to adjourn, Meyer seconded; Conn adjourned meeting at 4:41 p.m.
