Please complete Annual Meeting Evaluation Forms.

PowerPoint presentations for 2003 should be submitted to session moderators who will load on laptop. Submit early prior to meeting if possible. Moderators to bring laptops with CD burners (if possible on PC/laptop).

Sections F and C need to coordinate on timing or presentations and symposia to minimize conflicts between Termite and Ant presentations.

14 PowerPoint projectors are planned for 2003. Presenters or moderators can bring their own laptop(s), but must use convention center PowerPoint projectors. There will be a file size limit for electronic submissions prior to the meeting.

Slide projectors will also be available.

There will be new designations for symposia: (a) program symposia, (b) section symposia, and (c) symposia.

2003 Program Chair is Bob Wright.

Section Chairs are responsible for recruiting and committing session moderators and competition judges (submit by Dec. 13, 2002). Moderators will do more work to get all presentations on CD.

Dec. 13, 2002: Deadline for Program Symposia submission/proposal to Brad Kard (kard@okstate.edu) or Bob Wright (rwright@unlnotes.unl.edu).
 (a) Submissions must contain complete symposium topic of interest and outline, including all titles and speaker's names, location, phone number, and email address.
(b) Each proposed symposium must have two organizers and their contact data (see ESA web site for details).

January 24, 2003: Program Chair and committee decision on program symposia by vote.

Section F Program Committee is composed of: (a) F Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary; (b) Fa Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary (or appointed rep.); and Fb Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary (or appointed rep.). See committee report below.

February 1, 2003: Additional Section symposia submitted to Bob Wright and Brad Kard in final form.

March 1, 2003: Section F Vice Chair (Brad Kard) submits Section symposia and other symposia to program chair in final form.

April 29, 2003: Deadline for 2003 organizers to enter all categories of symposia into the electronic submission program (ESP)

May 1, 2003: ESP online for paper submission

June 10, 2003: Deadline for submission of all papers, posters, and student competition.

Other Reports

Governing Board Report (Shripat Kamble)
ESA budget is currently positive with $126,000 in reserve.

2003 ESA meeting member pre-registration fees should be the same as 2002. On-site registration will increase by 11 percent.

For 2003, most rooms will be provided with LCD projectors; but, moderators or presenters will need their own laptops with CD burner capability (if possible) for PowerPoint presentations.

Theme for 2003 ESA meeting will be "From Many Disciplines, A Great Science."

Current business and issues included: 

Subsections Fa and Fb continue to stress student competition 10-minute papers and posters.

Call for program and Section symposia

Each branch needs to designate one Program Committee representative to rank symposia (two-year term).

The Journal of Economic Entomology and Journal of Medical Entomology need editorial board representatives in overall review of journals. Call for nominees from Section F.

Subsections submit proposed symposia to Section F vice chair

Best day to conduct Section F symposia during annual meeting was thought to be Tuesday, with Monday as a second choice.

All submissions must meet deadlines set by ESA. Program symposia proposals must be submitted in final format no later than December 13, 2002.

Section F symposia final format proposals to Section F vice chair no later than February 1, 2003.

Vice chair convenes Section F program committee to vote on symposia. Section F allocated three symposia. Top 3 Section symposia submitted to ESA Program Committee Chair no later than March 1, 2003

Any number of symposia can be submitted to Section F vice chair.

Program and Section symposia have priority for program enhancement funds.

New Business

Sue Blodgett suggested a co-program symposium be proposed with Subsection Ce and Section F, "Microbial Control of Insect Pests." A motion to cosponsor was voiced and seconded. Chair will pursue.

There is no limit on the number of program symposia that can be submitted to Bob Wright or Brad Kard

Section F needs nominations for secretary elect for 2004. Submit to chair as soon as possible. 

Section F member list should be on the ESA server.

2002 ESA meeting attendance is 2223 registered.

Subsection Fb 10-minute papers student competition runner-up is Kenneth S. Brown, Oklahoma State University.
