2001 Annual Meeting
December 9-12, 2001
Town and Country Resort and Convention Center
San Diego, California
“2001: An Entomological Odyssey”
The meeting focused on the science
of entomology and its diversity.
From President Larson’s Message:
“Over a quarter of a century ago, when I was just
starting my career in entomology, Stanley Kubrick’s
monumental cinemagraphic masterpiece, 2001: A Space
Odyssey, first appeared. In that film, touching a
strange obelisk dramatically accelerated the course of
human evolution outward toward the stars. Today, science
all around us is being profoundly affected by the impact
of biotechnology. These developments and emerging tools
have allowed us to unlock the universe within us as well
as the organisms we study. It has led us as well as the
organisms we study. It has led us into a new Century,
one that promises to be the Century of Biology!”
