2005 ESA Annual Meeting
December 15-18, 2005
Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward
County Convention Center
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Sex, Bugs, and Rock ‘n Roll—Entomologists Impacting
Health, Hunger, Biodiversity, and the Environment was the theme for the 2005
Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. President Michael Ivie chose a
theme that would “encompass the scope of our diverse Society, yet would
excite the Public. The biological imperative is perhaps the most pervasive
aspect of our work with insects. Our most innovative, exciting, and
effective research has centered around it: sterile male release,
pheromone-based monitoring, sexual selection, mating disruption, genitalia
as diagnostic tools, reproductive physiology, population genetics,
heritability, on and on. It is through this work that entomologists are
impacting the well-being of the world.”
