Students again had many prominent activities as well, including the Linnaean Games Finals, a special mixer by the pool, paper/poster competition, and student-sponsored symposia. A family-friendly program (including child-care and an enhanced guest program) augmented a scientific program that was generated over 75 symposia proposals and several keynote speakers. In addition, the program encouraged and supported member “Networks” as a critical means to make connections and continue to grow the influence and expansion of our science and profession. The logo itself was designed by Norma Irish, a Research Associate at Montana State University. The visual of connecting the puzzle pieces by ants represents the notion of bringing ESA members together in a social and scientific environment to share the many wonderful examples of research discovery, teaching, extension, and technology development within the largest entomological society in the world.
