Symposia Submissions
The Program symposia, Section symposia, and other symposia submission
deadline was July 9, 2008.
However, the ESA has a mechanism for updating Annual Meeting attendees on very
recent, yet important, entomological events: the Late Breaking Symposium. These
are symposia that concern entomologically-significant event(s) that occurred
since the symposium submission deadline. Examples would include: unusual insect
outbreaks during the summer of 2008, highlights of the ICE last month, major
regulatory changes introduced in the last few months.
The Program Co-Chairs will be accepting ideas for Late Breaking Symposia from
now until October 15. Only a few such symposia would qualify for this status
each year but they can be submitted by any ESA member or Section. Those
interested in submitting a Late Breaking Symposium should submit directly to one
of the Program Co-Chairs via email (Ric Bessin:
rbessin@email.uky.edu; Grayson Brown:
gcbrown147@gmail.com; or Douglas
Johnson: djohnson@email.uky.edu).
NOTE: The Late Breaking Symposium process is NOT to be used as a “back door” for
folks who missed the original submission deadline. Submitters should understand
that the Program Co-Chairs are the final authority for acceptance/rejection of
these symposia.
Eligibility Requirements for All Contributors
1. All ESA members and non-members may give one invited (symposium) and one
contributed presentation (oral ten-minute paper or poster) at the meeting.
2. Eligibility will be automatically determined at the time of submission, both
for invited speakers and contributed speakers.
3. Individuals may be co-authors of any number of contributed papers or poster
presentations.
4. All presenters must be registered for the Annual Meeting to participate.
