From Entomophobe to Entomologist

Jessica Hartshorn, an M.S. student at the University of Arkansas, was afraid of insects three years ago, but now she is on her way to earning a Ph.D. in entomology. In this video she talks about her work on invasive wood wasps, and how she found a new Arkansas state record of a leaf-footed bug which is currently being found in the southeastern U.S.

"My dad thinks it's absolutely hilarious that I'm in entomology," she says, "because when I was younger I would scream if anything that was considered a creepy-crawly was on me or near me."
