Did you ever wonder which insect was the loudest, the longest, the fastest, the largest, or the smallest?
Wired Magazine has compiled "The Insect Awards: Wired’s Entomological Hall of Fame," which answers these and other questions
Entomologists at the University of Florida searched the literature to come up with insects that were the fastest, largest, longest, loudest and brightest. They also selected more unusual champions: best imitator, least specific vertebrate bloodsucker, and most spectacular mating.
Wired selected their favorites from among 40 categories, plus some other insects that are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
