Lanham, MD; August 15, 2010 – The Center for Integrated Pest Management (CIPM) has announced the launch of a new Pesticide Environmental Stewardship (PES) website. The site (http://pesticidestewardship.org) is designed for anyone who applies, sells, stores, or disposes of pesticides; provides advice or training on pesticide use; or is involved in pesticide stewardship or regulation.
Lanham, MD; July 28, 2010 – Dr. Kenneth F. Raffa, a professor at the University of Wisconsin Department of Entomology, has been selected to deliver the Founders’ Memorial Award lecture at Entomology 2010 – the 58th Annual Meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) – this December in San Diego, California. The honoree is the late Dr. Andrew Delmar Hopkins.

Thompson Distinguished Professor of Entomology at Louisiana State University and the LSU Agricultural Center, has been selected as the first ESA Subject Matter Expert and Liaison to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pesticide Programs. Lanham, MD; July 9, 2010 – The deadline to submit Virtual Posters for Entomology 2010 -- ESA's 58th Annual Meeting -- has been extended to August 20, 2010.
The Entomological Society of America expects nearly 3,000 entomologists to attend the 2010 ESA Annual Meeting scheduled for December 12-15, 2010 in San Diego, California.
Lanham, MD; June 30, 2010 – On June 7, 2010, the Entomological Society of America (ESA) wrote a letter to the National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA) concerning the 2010 Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) and the potential unintended consequences of the scope and implementation of the AFRI Request for Applications.
Lanham, MD; June 16, 2010 – ESA need photos of entomologists at work for the new ESA website, which will be launched later this year.
We are looking for a variety of photos which depict different fields of entomology -- for example, agriculture, medicine, forensics, systematics, etc. -- and the diversity of the ESA membership.

Lanham, MD; June 15, 2010 – ESA has begun accepting entries for the 2010 YouTube Your Entomology Video Contest. Following on its success from last year, this contest gives ESA members the opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity through video.
Members may submit entries in four different categories:
Discovery (research-based)
Instruction (teaching-based)
Outreach (extension-based)
Open category (anything goes, for the uber-creative entomologist)
The rules for this year's contest are:
