Lanham, MD; June 14, 2010 – The Entomological Society of America expects nearly 3,000 entomologists to attend the 2010 ESA Annual Meeting scheduled for December 12-15, 2010 in San Diego, California.
This year's meeting will feature"Virtual Posters" for entomologists who are unable to travel to San Diego and participate in person.
Lanham, MD; April 29, 2010 – ESA is looking for the best insect photos to grace our 2011 World of Insects Calendar.
Photos should show insects in their natural environments and should be of the highest aesthetic and technical quality. Photographs for the calendar will be selected by a committee appointed by the ESA President.
For review purposes, photos should be in JPG format (between 1000 and 2000 pixels wide) and should be e-mailed to pubs@entsoc.org by June 15, 2010.
Lanham, MD; January 4, 2010 – The 57th Annual Meeting of the ESA, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, December 13-16, 2009, was attended by 2,682 entomologists from all over the world -- the second highest attendance number at an ESA Annual Meeting in the last six years.
November 23, 2009 -- Since 1996, crop plants genetically modified to produce bacterial proteins that are toxic to certain insects, yet safe for people, have been planted on more than 200 million hectares worldwide. The popularity of these Bt crops, named after the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis, comes from their ability to kill some major pests, allowing farmers to save money and lessen environmental impacts by reducing insecticide sprays.
