Maintaining Your Certification
State Issues
To many BCEs, one of the greatest benefits of the program is the ability to have
your BCE certification serve as an alternate way to fulfill your state licensing
requirements. Currently only BCEs in the state of Texas are eligible for this
benefit.
Texas:
Program summary: Persons holding a valid commercial or noncommercial pesticide applicator license issued by the
Texas Department of Agriculture's Structural Pest Control Board and who are Board Certified Entomologists participating in the ESA Professional
Maintenance and Certification Program may elect to fulfill SPCB pesticide
applicator re-certification requirements through ESA validation. Recertification
with the SPCB and ESA is on an annual basis. Participants for
this option must notify SPCB in writing of their intention to fulfill their
requirements this way, and must fulfill the requirements of section 593.23 of the Texas Structural Pest Control Regulations
for obtaining two units in the general category every year, though this
reporting requirement may be satisfied within the credit and reporting
requirements for the ESA's PMC program. For questions on eligibility or
qualifications, please contact ESA or the
Texas Structural Pest Control Board.
If you would like to have your state considered for this
program, have your state's Structural Pest Control Board, Department of
Agriculture, or whomever you need to certify with annually, contact ESA's
Director of Membership and Marketing.
