Abbreviations for Job Opportunities

Acceptable abbreviations include:

  • Abbreviate states to two letters, for example, MD for Maryland; 
  • Abbreviate months to three letters;
  • Abbreviate scientific disciplines by removing "-ology" and "-ological," i.e. entomology becomes entomol.;
  • Abbreviate college degrees to B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.; and
  • Use numerals for numerical references, i.e. 3 yrs.
