Assistant Professor - Vector Entomology/Pathology, University of Florida – A 12-month, tenure-accruing 10% teaching, 90% research position is available at the Citrus Research and Education Center, Lake Alfred Florida. A Ph.D in Entomology or a closely related discipline is required. A faculty member is sought to examine relationships between microorganisms that cause citrus diseases and the insects that vector these diseases. Desired areas of expertise include molecular biology, cell biology, behavioral ecology, physiology and/or genetics of arthropod vector-pathogen interactions as related to plant production. Tenure will accrue in the Entomology and Nematology Department. The faculty member will participate actively in undergraduate and graduate education by chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising thesis and dissertation research, supervising undergraduate research, and publishing the results with his/her graduate students. The faculty member will actively seek extramural contract and grant funding to support his/her program. The faculty member will engage in extension activities in his or her program area. Interdisciplinary: Supervisory Research Veterinary Medical Officer/Research Entomologist/ Research Microbiologist (Research Leader) – GS-14/15 Salary: $96,690- $147,857 per annum; SSRS Salary: $150,000 - $170,000 per annum (with full potential to $196,700) – The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Arthropod-Borne Animal Diseases Research Unit (ABADRU) at the Center for Grain and Animal Health Research in Manhattan, KS is seeking a permanent, full-time individual with an established record of experience to serve as the Research Leader of the unit. The position offers an exciting opportunity to lead one of the nation’s premier laboratories conducting fundamental and applied research on arthropod transmitted diseases of livestock. Research involves studies on arthropod-transmitted viruses such as bluetongue virus and the closely related epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus, vesicular stomatitis virus, Rift Valley Fever virus, and other arboviruses.

This position is being advertised under both the General Schedule (GS-14/15 grade levels) pay system as well as the Senior Scientist Research Service (SSRS) system, however only one position will be filled. Tenure Track Assistant Professor – University of Massachusetts Amherst, Department of Plant, Soil, and Insect Sciences.

The Department of Plant, Soil and Insect Sciences, University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for an Assistant Professor level, tenure-track position in Molecular Biology or related area beginning Fall 2010. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D., a strong record of research, including clear potential to obtain extramural research support and maintain an active research program. In addition, it is anticipated that the incumbent will participate in teaching an expanding curriculum in Biotechnology in our department. Candidates with a research focus in Metabolomics/Genomics and/or Biotic Stress/Crop Protection are especially encouraged to apply. We have special interests in recruiting faculty to our growing group of molecular biologists in the department. The position is one of several on campus designed to expand an existing cluster focused on biofuels and renewable energy research.

Graduate Fellowship in Urban Entomology – The Graduate Fellowship in Urban Entomology at the University of Kentucky is funded from the Kentucky Pest Control Association Scholarship Fund. This fellowship will support graduate research in applied or fundamental aspects of urban / structural pest management.
