POSTDOCTORAL
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - IN SPECIATION GENETICS
– Ph.D. in evolutionary biology, molecular biology, biology, or a
related field with strong interest in evolutionary genetics and
evolutionary biology, as evidenced by dissertation research,
publications, and/or previous postdoc experience is required.
Responsibilities include basic statistical analyses, learning and
conducting proteomic techniques to identify ejaculate proteins,
conducting molecular work such as PCR, cloning, cDNA synthesis,
dsRNA synthesis, and overseeing/conducting mating and behavior

Assistant
Professor-Plant Virology
– The Department of Plant Pathology at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in Plant Virology at the assistant professor level, focusing on
the biology of plant viruses and their interaction with plants in
relation to regionally important food, forest, ornamental, or
energy-related crops. Research possibilities include the epidemiology
and control of plant virus diseases; the genetics, biochemistry and cell
biology of virus and host functions in virus replication, spread,
virulence, and pathogenesis; and virus-vector relationships. We expect
the incumbent to bridge basic and applied research. Exciting
opportunities exist for collaboration with colleagues in virology, plant
biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and related disciplines within the
department, college, and university. The incumbent will mentor graduate

in climate, land use and invasive species impact ecology.
Duties:
Develop and oversee sampling
designs to track abundance, diversity, phenology, and population
dynamics of ground-dwelling beetles and mosquitoes; Develop and oversee
NEON invertebrate identification design, including DNA barcode libraries
for selected taxa; Develop QA/QC protocols for field sampling and data
processing; Develop the scientific rationale for scientific measurements
and methods.
Qualifications:
PhD in ecology, evolution, or related
field; 5 years research experience (including PhD research) in insect
ecology, specifically related to ground-dwelling beetles or mosquitoes;
5 years field experience (including PhD research), familiarity with
pitfall trapping methods, mosquito trapping methods, insect
identification, bioarchive collections, and/or DNA barcoding; Experience
working in a collaborative scientific enterprise
