Join ESA leadership as we kick-off Entomology 2017 at the Opening Plenary.  Dr. Susan Weller will open the conference with her presidential address reflecting on the year and setting the tone for the week ahead. Hear from other notable society leaders and hear all the highlights for ESA and the Entomological Foundation.

Immediately following the leaders, we will the pinnacle of ESA awardees; ESA Honorary Members, ESA Fellows, and the Entomological Foundation Medal of Honor as well as preview the new Awards Breakfast format and honorees.

New this year, we are excited welcome our invited Plenary Speaker, bestselling author, and science communicator – Mary Roach.  She will share her experiences as a writer and blogger who delights in exploring complex scientific ideas and turning them into entertaining print and electronic communications. Her bestsellers include: Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal, Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void; Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers; Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, and her latest, Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War.
