Research Project Lead, Insect Control – Req #: 00LM3

St. Louis, MO

Monsanto is currently hiring a Research Project Lead to join the Insect Control team within our Agronomic Traits program. This team is dedicated to developing the next generation of insect resistant crops using a variety of research tools and approaches. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced scientist to lead our research efforts focused on novel insect control traits for corn.

Core Business/Functional Skills and Education:

• PhD or Master's degree with 3+ years experience in biological sciences
• Skill in general recombinant DNA techniques (cloning, PCR, DNA and RNA preparation and blotting, northern blots, Southern blots, western blots)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with common computer programs (Microsoft office, scientific computing tools such as BLAST, database searching)

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, insect physiology or entomology
• Experience with trait development
• People management experience is a plus
• Knowledge on insect physiology and insect pests
