The Agricultural Studies program invites applications for the Rolland Starn Endowed Chair in Agricultural Studies. The Agricultural Studies program supports academic concentrations in Agricultural Biology, Agricultural Business/Economics, and Sustainable Agriculture. We invite applicants from candidates with leadership and expertise in any of these areas. The successful candidate will be hired into a 12-month appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure, to serve as lead faculty member and Program Director for the Agricultural Studies program. Expected teaching duties: 12 credits of instruction during academic year (2 classes per semester or equivalent). Endowed Chair responsibilities (equivalent to 12 credits): outreach and recruitment, student advising, fundraising and grant development, curriculum and program management and development, ongoing development of the Agricultural Studies field lab, community and industry involvement, and other duties required to support a successful and sustainable Agricultural Studies program. This position includes summer employment and responsibilities consistent with a 12-month appointment, including supervision of summer internships. Supplemental endowment earnings are available to support this position. |
Doctorate required in any Agricultural field. Demonstrated success with university-level teaching within the field, a record of scholarship appropriate for the position, and the demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with faculty across related disciplines and within the practicing agricultural community serving our region. |
Track record of outstanding teaching and a productive mix of scholarship and service; experience in program development and leadership; demonstrated capacity to collaborate with other educational institutions and professionals and practitioners serving local agricultural communities; strong belief in the value of a diverse and multi-disciplinary agricultural studies curriculum relevant to the needs of our regional agricultural industry. |
