Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop a strong, externally funded research program focused on insect transmission of plant pathogens; the ecology, epidemiology or management of insect-borne plant diseases; or insect-plant pathogen / endosymbiont interactions at the organismal or molecular level. The faculty will cooperate with fellow faculty in the department in the development of innovative pest management strategies.
- Support and contribute to the instructional mission of the department by teaching a graduate level course on arthropod transmission of plant pathogens; teach and develop appropriate graduate and undergraduate courses in the department; and participate in the departmental entomology and tropical plant pathology graduate programs by teaching, supervising and mentoring graduate students.
- Provide service to the college, university and community.

Minimum Qualifications

- Ph.D. from a college or university of recognized standing in Entomology, Plant Pathology, or related discipline. ABD candidates may be considered, but all degree requirements must be completed at the time of hire.
- Research experience with insect vectored plant diseases and/or endosymbionts as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated ability to teach.

Desirable Qualifications

- Post-doctoral research experience in entomology or insect-vectors.
- Teaching experience at the university level.
- Evidence of successful grantsmanship.
