Hello,

My name is Julian Golec and I am currently a senior at The University of Rhode Island located in Kingston, RI. I have a general interest in all aspects of natural biology, but have a particular knack for the field of entomology. From my first exposure, which came to me from an introductory course my junior year, I have tried to get any experience that I could in this field. A great opportunity was given to me by my professor to work within the Department of Plant Science and Entomology at URI. There I worked in the Biological Control Lab, working on project that involved both invasive insects and plant species. After coming back from a semester in Australia I was offered a position as a Field Insect Pest Aide (or field surveyor) for the PA Department of Agriculture. There I worked on a detection survery for the Emerald Ash borer. This project exposed me greatly into the field of invasive insect biology and field research techniques. As of now I would say this is my greatest interest in the field of entomology and I would like to become more familiar with the biology of invasive insects, biological control of both invasive insects and plants (using insects), invasive insect ecology and distribution.

I will be graduating from URI in the spring of 2012 with a B.A in Biology (minor in Plant Science) and will be working as a field biologist with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Soceity for the summer months. After that, I plan on attending graduate school to earn my PhD. Please feel free to look at my resume and get in contact with me if you so do please.

Thank you,

Julian Golec
