Thank you for your interest in my profile and resume.

I've recently completed the PhD (Entomology) program at the University of Georgia in August 2011 under the direction of Dr. Brian T. Forschler, and currently hold the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Household and Structural Entomology Laboratory at the same university.

My PhD research project focused on the improving the taxonomy of Reticulitermes termites in the southeast region of USA and to provide better tools and recognition methods to assist with identification of members within the group. We achieved this by integrating multi-disciplinary methods (morphology, genetics and behavioral with modern taxonomic keys) and techniques to update the taxonomic status of the group. The result was the description of a new species, an updated dichotomous key with detailed methodologies for precise morphological measurements and comparison, an online matrix key (built using Lucid 3.5), a thorough review of old literature pertaining to Reticulitermes history and an update on the haplotypes and genetic diversity observed throughout the southeast region of the USA (North Carolina, Georgia, Florida).

Throughout my PhD program, I have taught and guest lectured in numerous classes and laboratories, and was given the opportunity to shape and form parts of the teaching syllabus in those classes. I was also given the opportunity to mentor an undergraduate student  for her research which was subsequently published and presented at many scientific conferences. I was also very honored to be chosen as the featured student at UGA's centennial issue of the Graduate School Magazine (Summer 2010), and played a part in Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe in their termite episode.

I am truly passionate about education as I believe it is the key to securing our children's future. I am interested to try out new avenues and experiences that job opportunities might offer. Therefore, I welcome interest from both the industry, academia and/or other fields.
