International Organization for Biological Control (IOBC)

The International Organization for Biological Control (IOBC) is the premier scientific society addressing issues in biological control worldwide. IOBC is organized by geographic sections, representing the major continental regions. Membership is open to anyone with interest in any aspect of biological control. The Nearctic Regional Section consists of members from the United States, Canada and Bermuda. The IOBC Governing Board voted in 2006 to be recognized as a network affiliated with ESA.

Historically, IOBC has held its annual meeting in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America, reflecting the large majority of entomologists among IOBC members. At the ESA meeting, IOBC sponsors a symposium, holds the annual business meeting, and presents a Distinguished Scientist Award, as well as awards to outstanding, promising graduate students.

IOBC is represented on the web at: www.entomology.wisc.edu/iobc/nrs.htm
