Section B: Physiology, Biochemistry, Toxicology, and Molecular Biology

With the approval of new ESA Bylaws in 2007, this Section ceased to exist at the end of that year.

The subjects that were covered by Section B included: the regulation of insect functions at the molecular, sub-cellular, cellular, tissue,and whole-animal levels with special emphasis on organ, sensory, and hormonal physiology and biochemistry; the toxicological interactions (toxicity, mode of action, and metabolism) and resistance mechanisms of control agents; the physiological interaction with the response to other animals, plants,microorganisms, and environmental factors such as temperature, photo period,climate, and habitat; the morphological basis of function (cytology,histology, ultrastructure, and tissue culture); molecular genetics and biotechnology; growth, nutrition, and developmental biology; immune and defense responses; and physiological aspects of behavior.
