Section D:Medical and Veterinary Entomology

With the approval of new ESA Bylaws in 2007, this Section ceased to exist at the end of that year.

The subjects that were covered by Section D included the study of insects and arachnids that adversely affect the health and well-being of humans,domestic vertebrate animals, and wildlife through direct effects of transmission of disease-causing agents. Section study encompassed the taxonomy, systematics, developmental biology, ecology, behavior, and control of arthropods of medical-veterinary importance to include medical, public health,veterinary, and forensic aspects of entomology and arachnology, epidemiology of arthropod-borne disease agents, management and control of arbodisease agents and of arthropod-vector relationships to vertebrate animal diseases. It also included the social, cultural, historical, and economic impact of arthropods that adversely affect vertebrate animals.
