ESA Executive Director Moving to Architect of the Capitol

Lanham, MD; November 27, 2006 – It is with deep regret that the Entomological Society of America (ESA) announces the resignation of Paula Lettice as Executive Director. Lettice, who served in this capacity for the last six years, has accepted the position of  Chief Financial Officer for the Architect of the U.S. Capitol (http://www.aoc.gov [2]). As CFO, she will have financial responsibility for the Capitol Building and its grounds, the Botanic Gardens, the House and Senate Office Buildings, and the buildings of the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress.

Lettice, who helped transform ESA into a downsized, financially solvent organization with sound business practices, functional integration, and technological improvements, is leaving ESA in extremely good hands. Beginning on December 4, Ann Kenworthy from Transition Management Consulting, Inc. (TMC)  will become the Interim Executive Director and will serve ESA in that capacity for six months, or until a decision is made on a new ESA Executive Director.

TMC specializes in working with organizations in transition, providing interim management and executive transition solutions for associations. Ms. Kenworthy has over 20 years of experience in association and association foundation management, specializing in working with small to medium-sized associations. She has a long history of consultancy and has most recently served as Interim Executive Director for the Obesity Society.

“Ann will work with incoming President Scott Hutchins and others in creating an ESA leadership development program which could become especially important as ESA moves toward renewal,” said ESA President Frank Gilstrap. “In my view, ESA has weathered another critical transition, and we are on a ‘good road’ to continued Societal growth and success.”

Founded in 1889, ESA is a non-profit organization committed to serving the scientific and professional needs of more than 5,700 entomologists and individuals in related disciplines.
