Volunteers and Committee Opportunities
Annual Meeting
Volunteering to work a shift at the Annual Meeting
is a great way to meet fellow members. Student members of ESA who serve as volunteers a
minimum of four hours at the Annual Meeting in Indianapolis are eligible for
reimbursement of their registration fee after the meeting. Student volunteer
assistance is needed in a number of different areas throughout the meeting.
Student Representative to the Governing Board
Term:
Two-year position.
Requirements:
Student must be enrolled in a graduate program of study to be eligible for
election to the Board. Attendance at Governing Board meetings in the summer and
the winter Annual Meeing is required. ESA currently pays travel, hotel, and meal
expenses for the summer Governing Board meeting. Extra hotel nights required for
the Annual Meeting are also paid by ESA. Travel and participation expenditures
at the Annual Meeting are the responsibility of the Student Representative.
Responsibilities:
The Student Representative is a full member of the Governing Board. Board
members facilitate the direction of ESA’s mission and purpose, approve and
monitor programs and services, engage in strategic planning, and communicate
effectively with constituents. The Student Representative participates in Board
meetings by presenting the majority opinion of constituents on relevant issues
and by providing concerns and responses from the student membership.
Benefits:
The Student Representative enhances communication between ESA and student
members. Participation at Board meetings and activities ensures that student
interests and concerns are taken into consideration during Board discussions.
