Biological Science Technician
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center, Commodity Protection and Quality Research Unit, Parlier, California, invites applications for a permanent Biological Science Technician position GS-7/8 ($41,365 - $59,557 per annum) with the full potential at GS-9. A technician is needed to assist a Research Entomologist in conducting research with an emphasis on molecular physiology and toxicology of postharvest insect-pests of fresh fruits. The ideal candidate has experience conducting research on plant pests, working with standard molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis), and using genomics approaches (gene silencing, gene expression using next-generation sequencing technologies).
