Position Summary: We have an immediate opening for a Biologist to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a dynamic, young company. We are looking for a Biologist with a strong background in biological science whose principal responsibility will be to manage experiments for a large number of R&D projects related to insect pest management and product development. This will include, but not be limited to, experimental design, planning logistics of field and lab work, and working with a small team to conduct experiments, gather and interpret data, and provide complete and coherent reports. Projects are designed to establish product efficacy and application methods for a variety of target pests and crops. Projects are often funded by federal grants. Data generated is used to develop and improve the Company’s environmentally friendly line of semiochemical-based products. The candidate will be part of a Biology team that interacts closely with the Company’s Chemical, Commercialization and Formulation teams. The candidate must be interested in the commercial application of research and development. The hire will also be responsible in assisting the biology team with grant preparation and administration, as well as preparing data for scientific conferences in the form of PowerPoint presentations and posters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Working very closely with the Biology Manager and technical writers.
- Supervising technicians and/or interns, and coordinating lab activities, such as colony maintenance.
- Assisting with Grant and Project Administration
- Preparing budgets
- Preparing and submitting proposals with the help of writers
- Tracking status
- Delegating tasks
- Coordinating with collaborators
- Planning, managing and reporting on lab studies.
- Tracking various active lab-based research projects and sub-projects.
- Delegating responsibilities to technicians and/or assistants.
- Gathering and interpreting data from experiments, and providing reports.
- Planning, managing and reporting on field studies (when applicable).
- Tracking various active research projects and sub-projects.
- Coordinating research and logistics for the field team and with outside collaborators.

- B.S. degree in Entomology, Agronomy or other related biological science degree is required.
- Biological lab and field work experience is highly recommended.
- Experience with entomological bio-assays and field studies is highly recommended.
- Exposure to or experience with agriculture is advantageous.
- Experience with personnel management and/or team coordination.
Language Ability - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general science papers and reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write protocols, reports, and procedure manuals.
Math Ability - Basic understanding of biological statistics. Able to run basic statistical data analyses (t-tests, ANOVAs, etc.)
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), and cloud-based analogues (G-suite).
- Good electronic organizational skills will be a benefit.
Certifications or Licenses - Valid Driver’s license
Office Areas: Quiet to moderate noise.
Biology Lab: Noise level usually quiet. Frequent use of PPE and strict attention to lab protocol is required. Exposure to insects including mosquitos is possible.
Production Areas: Noise level can be very loud. Work areas can be very hot in summer months. Frequent use of PPE and strict attention to safety procedure is required.
Field Work: Quiet to moderate noise. Often in direct sun and high temperatures. May need to be in PPE under these conditions. Possible exposure to bees and other insects.
