ESA Online Member Community Transitions to New Site

ESA Networks

Annapolis, MD; May 19, 2020—This summer, the Entomological Society of America will transition its online member community to a platform that better aligns with the needs of Society membership.

To connect and collaborate with colleagues, ESA members are encouraged to visit the refreshed and redesigned ESA Networks site. In August, the ESA Community online discussion and collaboration site will be shut down.

In 2017, ESA launched the ESA Community ( on a new software platform, but usage has not met ESA’s goals for the site, and the ESA Governing Board decided in June 2019 to allow the Society’s contract with the ESA Community software provider to expire in August 2020.

In its place, ESA will return to hosting member discussion and networking on the ESA Networks site (, which will better meet the online-community needs of Society membership in a more cost-effective solution.

The ESA Community will remain online and available through August 1, but ESA encourages members to explore and begin using the refreshed and redesigned ESA Networks today, at
