Science Policy Events:

In addition to the Annual and Branch meetings, the Society occasionally hosts meetings, summits, and briefings to help inform policy and decision makers, members, and other stakeholders. As events are planned, details will be posted on this page.

Past Events:

Entomology Leadership Summit (September 27-28, 2016)

ESA hosted a summit in conjunction with the International Congress of Entomology to focus on entomology's role in developing solutions for some of the world's most challenging issues: Sustainable agriculture, vector-borne diseases, and invasive insect species. 

Integrated Tick Management Summit (May 16-17, 2016)

ESA partnered with the IPM Institute and the CDC to host this summit that featured the latest research and development of these public health pests. Over 80 professionals attended this two-day summit. 11 of them spend a few hours making visits to Capitol Hill offices to advocate for vector control research and funding.

The Aedes aegypti Crisis in the Americas Summit (March 13, 2016)

The Society partnered with the Brazilian Entomological Society to host a Summit in Maceió, Brazil focused on managing the spread of the mosquito that vectors the Zika virus, dengue, chikungunya, yellow fever, and other diseases.
