Graduate Student (MS/PhD) Position at Oregon State University Honey Bee Lab

The Honey Bee Lab and Pollinator Health Extension Lab at Oregon State University are seeking a MS/PhD student starting January/April 2019.

M.S or PhD: This masters/ doctoral student will focus on a collaborative project involving the Oregon State University Honey Bee Lab, the OSU Pollinator Health Extension (Dr. Andony Melathopoulos) and state agencies to develop metrics to assess progress on state pollinator protection plans. The incumbent is expected to conduct research to: (1) establish baseline pesticide exposure and pollen nutrition for honey bees in a major bee-pollinated cropping systems in Oregon, (2) develop a robust protocol for assessing trends in honey bee pesticide exposure for key cropping systems over time and (3) explore potential synergistic effects between nutrition and pesticide toxicity on colony health.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Entomology or relevant field. Knowledge of honey bee biology, experience working with honey bees, experience with agricultural systems and producer groups, and strong statistical analysis skills are preferred.
