MS/PhD Assistantship in Urban Entomology

The Urban Entomology Laboratory in the Department of Entomology at Purdue University is recruiting highly motivated and independent graduate student to work in the area of ant ecotoxicology. Funding is available to support a graduate research assistantship at either the MS or PhD level. The research project is broadly structured to understand the physiological and behavioral adaptations of pest ants to urban ecosystems. These goals will be accomplished utilizing odorous house ants (Tapinoma sessile) as a model system and will involve a variety of behavioral, molecular, biochemical, experimental, and other tools depending on the interest of the applicant. Ideal students should be highly enthusiastic and interested in working at the interface of fundamental and applied entomology with a focus on urban ecology. The position will be available starting in Spring 2019, or until a qualified candidate has been identified. Position comes with a competitive stipend, full tuition waiver, and benefits package including health insurance.
