Postdoctoral Research Associate
Postdoctoral Researcher, NC State University
Duties: Coordinate a project on interactions of resident and released natural enemies of spider mites and thrips, leading to enhanced biological control in vegetable cropping systems. Success of the project will be assessed by quantifying impacts on pest populations, pesticide inputs for targeted pests, and economics of pest management programs. The project offers the opportunity to gain extension experience by working directly with growers, extension agents and the crop protection industry in on-farm studies and educational programs. In addition to the research and extension responsibilities, the incumbent will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals, present results of the project at scientific and grower/commodity meetings, prepare project reports, and supervise technical staff and student workers.
Location: The position is located at NC State University’s Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center (MHCREC), Mills River, NC. MHCREC is located approximately 10 miles south of Asheville, NC, and houses over 50 faculty and staff from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Entomology or closely related field, experience conducting applied field research, and sound knowledge of statistical analysis. Ability to communicate effectively with a diversity of audiences, and to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere.
Salary: $50,000 per year plus university postdoctoral benefits.
