Postoctoral position - Whitefly management in vegetables
The North Florida Research and Education Center of the University of Florida, (https://nfrec.ifas.ufl.edu/) seeks a postdoctoral research associate to work on a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) funded project to improve management of whiteflies on cucurbits and tomatoes. Project goals are to develop a push-pull system combining visual and odor cues.
The post-doctoral research associate will be expected to conduct field and laboratory studies in these areas leading to peer-reviewed research publications. In addition, the candidate will participate in extension outreach events and assist in writing outreach publications. The postdoctoral research associate will have opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary scientists at other institutions. Experience in field trials is mandatory for this position. Experience and/or interest in chemical ecology and insect behavior would be appreciated.
The post-doctoral research associate will integrate the dynamic and diverse laboratory of Dr. Xavier Martini located at the NFREC in Quincy, FL. The successful candidate will benefit from the different equipment available in the lab including GC-MS, wind tunnel, olfactometers, and Ethovision. Quincy is conveniently located 20 min from the state capital Tallahassee, and only 2h drive from the main UF campus in Gainesville.
The position is for 18 months but may continue after pending funding. It includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience and education, plus benefits.
