Termite NASCAR Coming to the Austin Insect Rodeo Expo
Annapolis, MD; October 29, 2013 -- Termite NASCAR is just one of many activities for children at the Austin Insect Rodeo Expo, a FREE event at the Bullock Texas State History Museum on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
This free educational event will reinforce students' science skills with hands-on activities, and it will allow students to enjoy opportunities to interact with professional insect scientists as they participate in a wide variety of presentations and activities designed to educate people about the most numerous, widespread, and diverse group of organisms on earth: Insects!
Hosted by the Entomological Foundation and the Entomological Society of America, the Austin Insect Rodeo Expo will feature Maggot Art, an Insect Petting Zoo, a Pollination Station, Honey Tasting, an Insect Cafe, Termite NASCAR, games, prizes, crafts, and more.
In addition, kids can see "Flight of the Butterflies" in 3-D at the museum’s IMAX theater.
"We look forward to the opportunity to develop children's interest in science and the fascinating world of insects," said Dr. Tom Green, President of the Entomological Foundation. "The Bullock Texas State History Museum is a great venue for Insect Rodeo, and we hope to meet a lot of people there."
Dozens of entomologists, in town for the Annual Meeting of the Entomological Society of America, have volunteered to help at the Insect Rodeo.
Pre-registration is not required for the Insect Rodeo, but it is encouraged for large groups. To pre-register, please contact Mariel Snyder at email@example.com or 608-232-1410.
