Research Entomologist - Crop Protection Discovery

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a talented and enthusiastic entomologist to join the Crop Protection Discovery, Insecticide and Nematicide Biology Group based at our Indianapolis research and development facility. The successful candidate will work on a team to identify novel small molecules that have potential for use as insecticides in crop protection. Demonstrated experience of continuous innovation in research is highly desirable. Job responsibilities include setting clear goals for hypothesis driven experiments that produce critical data for early-stage molecule advancement decisions. Work responsibilities will be balanced across developing new capabilities for insecticide discovery to improving existing processes. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment, network across scientific disciplines, and be capable of clearly communicating to a broad range of audiences.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and evaluate novel insecticidal small molecules
  • Developing strategies to create and validate new bioassay methods
  • Conducting experiments in laboratories, growth chambers, and greenhouses
  • Contributing to all aspects of experiments including planning, execution, analysis, and reporting
  • Generating and clearly presenting summaries of technical results
  • Developing and implementing safety practices to ensure a safe work environment



  • Ph.D. in entomology or related field
  • Experience evaluating compounds for controlling insect pests
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
  • Self-motivated, organized research scientist, who enjoys working in project teams, delivering project milestones, and supporting company objectives
  • Strong record of accomplishment that delivered superior result


  • Industry experience
  • Familiarity with agricultural chemistry or toxicology
  • Experience leading small teams to achieve research goals
  • Bioassay development, experience with high throughput assays or laboratory automation
