Full time Research Technician is needed under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Beers (Department of Entomology) at the WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center (TFREC) in Wenatchee, WA. The successful applicant will perform professional-level work in support of entomology research activities in tree crops in Eastern Washington; including spotted-wing drosophila, brown marmorated stink bug, and codling moth. This will require the ability to work independently and collect, organize and summarize field and laboratory data. Other duties include assisting in designing, developing, and evaluating data collection procedures. Occasional supervision or training of temporary workers in data collections or research project implementation may be required.
The successful candidate will be hired for one year with the potential for renewal upon performance evaluation at the end of the first year and available funding. An earned B.S. or M.S. in Entomology or related field is required. The desired start date is September 2021.
The TFREC is located in Wenatchee, WA, in the center of Washington’s tree fruit industry which is the largest producer of apples, pears, and sweet cherries in the US. The TFREC has 14 research and extension faculty members from various departments. The property is also shared with the USDA ARS Tree Fruit Physiological and Pathology laboratory housing six scientists.
