Vector Biology Lecturer- Cornell University Department of Entomology
The Cornell Department of Entomology is seeking a full-time Lecturer to start on June 1, 2018. The Lecturer will join Cornell’s mosquito biology program team and the Northeast Regional Center for Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases (NEVBD) to deliver a Master of Science in Entomology http://neregionalvectorcenter.com/ms-in-entomology.The purpose of this effort is to educate the next generation of vector biologists and public health practitioners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Successful candidate will be expected to develop, plan and offer courses in vector biology and public health. She/he will organize practicum experiences for students and be involved in recruiting and adapting the program to meet the needs of the students. In addition, the Lecturer will collaborate with NEVBD members to develop assessment tools for the MS program.
QUALIFICATIONS: MS, MPH or PhD in Entomology, Public Health, Ecology or related field, supported by experience with vector control and/or public health. Prior experience with arthropod taxonomy and control is essential. Prior teaching experience is highly desired. Outstanding written and oral communication skills also are important. The Lecturer should have sound planning, organization, problem solving and coordination skills, and the ability to work as a team member and under pressure.
