Announcements

  • Ann Fallon: Introduced discussion of a possible new ESA journal. Insect Molecular Biology. Active discussion followed. May attract biologists from outside ESA to journal.

  • Sonny Ramaswamy brings up from W. Roeloffs: Concern for spouse registration fee so high, maybe can be reduced. E. says we should disconnect emeritus from spouse

  • Transfer of Chair to Kate Loudon

  • Pauline Lawrence raised concerns about teaching insect physiology. Her survey suggests students take only because required. Wants a survey on how department heads/chairs regard insect physiology. Pauline’s concerns stimulated active discussion with several people saying their insect physiology courses are important integral components of entomological education.
