Minutes from the 2002 Subsection Fa Business Meeting, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Call to Order

Chair Bruce Hibbard called the meeting to order on November18 at 4:30 p.m. 

Reading & approval of 2001 Business Meeting Minutes

Minutes from the 2001 meeting and a current agenda were passed out. A motion was made and passed to approve the minutes.

Announcements

Chair Hibbard called for announcements.

The Biennial IPRI workshop was held last February in Baltimore, Maryland. One member noted that it was a nice but small meeting. 

Old Business

The Entomological Foundation's Kenneth & Barbara Starks Plant Resistance to Insects Graduate Student Research Award was discussed. It was noted that a limited number of nominations were received. However, a well-deserving individual, Chris Ranger, University of Missouri,was this year's recipient.

New Business

Secretary Tom Clark held the election of the new secretary. The two candidates were Fikru Haile of Dow Agro Sciences and Assefa Gebre-Amlak of Colorado State University. After introducing the candidates, an election was held in which Fikru Haile won. Chair Hibbard thanked both individuals for their willingness to serve.

Chair Hibbard then asked if there were any nominations for Section F secretary. No names were brought forward.

Chair-Elect Ron Hammond asked for symposia proposals but none were brought forward.  There were a couple potential topics but they fell through at the last minute. One member mentioned that we should try a bit harder to get a symposia put forward. It was also mentioned that an informal symposia was put together on the soybean aphid.

Ron Hammond had a few announcements regarding Arthropod Management Test (AMT) format.

No other items of new business were brought forward.

The gavel was then passed to to the new chair, Ron Hammond. Chair Hibbard was thanked and the meeting was adjourned.
