The meeting was convened at 5:30 pm; 28 people were in attendance.
Call to order and introduction of officers:
President: Brian Cabrera (Univ. FL-Gainsville): not in attendance

The meeting was called to order by John Klotz. An attendance sheet was circulated for names, email addresses, and volunteers for 2007 moderators and judges. He appointed Laurel Hansen to take notes for the meeting.
Reading and approval of the 2005 business meeting minutes.
John Klotz read the minutes of the 2005 business meeting. The minutes were approved.
Report of Subsection activities at 2006 ESA Annual meeting (John Klotz)
This ESA meeting: 1 section symposium:7 papers on Current and Future State of Pest Mgt in Urban Environments; 14 student papers, 4 student posters, 42 ten-minute papers; 28 posters.
Old Business
A discussion was conducted regarding integrating the pest control industry into ESA meeting. Comments included: invite pest control industry located at the location of the meeting; provide more exposure to the industry at the location of the meeting; invite local participation at the local level.
New Business
An election was held for Fb Secretary for 2006. Candidates willing to serve included Paul Forth, Mark Sheperdigian, and Laurel Hansen. Mark Sheperdigian received the nomination. The 2007 officers will be President: Gregg Henderson, Vice President: John Klotz; and Secretray: Mark Sheperdigian..
A request for symposia for 2007 was made. The meeting will be held in San Diego with the theme: “Making Connections.” Stephen Kells and Ted Granovsky suggested a symposium on bedbugs with emphasis on biology and behavior. Stephen Kells and Dini Miller will work on this symposium to include basic science. Ted Granovsky said the BCE program will work on a symposium to include control and extension activities for bedbugs. Reminders were made regarding deadlines for submission.
Concern was expressed regarding the publication of a new journal: Public Entomology to include Medical, Veterinary, and urban entomology. This proposal is before the board.
Steve Kells announced the 9th International Symposium on Ectoparasites of Pets and 51st Livestock Insect Workers Conference in Lexington, Kentucky on June 10-14. Papers may be submitted for talks at this conference.
Paul Baker noted that 2008 dates for the International Congress of Entomology and the International Conference on Urban Pests are both scheduled for July, 2008.
