Approval Wanted for Dinotefuran Against Stink Bugs

Alert: ESA Customer Account System Unavailable in June

In June, ESA is upgrading its online system for member/customer accounts. Processes such as renewals, purchases, applications, and registrations are unavailable between June 1 and June 29.

Dr. George Hamilton, professor of entomology and department chair of Rutgers University, hopes for the approval for Dinotefuran use on stink bugs. The brown marmorated stink bug is causing damage to apples, peaches, pears, peppers, tomatoes, sweet corn, soybeans, grapes, raspberries, and blueberries.

Unfortunately, Hamilton says the short term will depend on insecticides such as Dinotefuran, and for the long-term, Hamilton and his colleagues hope to see a bio control agent or predator that will manage the populations. Read the full article.
