Although institutions have reverted to in-person teaching following the COVID-19 Pandemic, entomology is increasingly shifting to online classrooms and portals for student learning. With higher demand for online course options, accessibility and engagement in digital classrooms are essential.

With increasing uncertainty in traditional job pathways in the public and private sector in the field of entomology, it’s more important than ever for students and early career professionals to build diverse, adaptable skill sets. Panelists will highlight ways to gain meaningful experience, through internships, extension programs, cooperative work, grant opportunities, and more, that can help students and early career professionals stay adaptable and competitive.

Many undergraduate and graduate students are interested in careers in education, but within entomology, education-focused career paths are often not clearly communicated to students or early career professionals. To help bridge this gap, we are hosting a webinar focused on showcasing diverse careers in entomology education with a focus on those beyond the traditional tenure-track faculty role.

This workshop will guide you through the essential elements of crafting an accomplishments-driven resume that not only captures the attention of recruiters and hiring managers but also is optimized for applicant tracking systems. You’ll learn how to structure your resume strategically, highlight your strengths, and optimize keywords, ensuring that you move from uncertainty to opportunity with confidence. You will also learn the key elements of an effective job search campaign, so you can place the resume in context with other documents and actions you can take that will help you secure your next job.

We will be covering five major topics, including job applications, CV/resumes, and interviewing tips, how to expand your network, science and visual communication skills, strategies for time management, and leadership skills and team building, in this year's webinar series.
