Southwestern Branch Call for Symposia
The Program Committee is currently requesting proposals for symposia for the 2024 ESA Southwestern Branch Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are soliciting symposia that showcase entomological research in the southwest. We also welcome symposia that showcase members who engage in science with their stakeholders, involving them in the discovery, experimental design, and in the scientific process.

Southwestern Branch Excellence in Early Career Award
This award honors a student transition or early professional working within the field of entomology who has demonstrated excellence in all the major aspects of intellectual life, including research, extension, teaching and outreach. The candidate will have made outstanding contributions to entomology, shown commitment to extension or outreach, and excelled in entomological education. The recipient will receive complimentary registration to the Southwestern Branch Meeting, a $500 check, and an award plaque.
Southwestern Branch Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management
This award recognizes a Southwestern Branch member who has made outstanding contributions in Integrated Pest Management. The winner of this award will be recognized at the Southwestern Branch Meeting and will be submitted to the ESA Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management as the Branch nominee for that same year.
Southwestern Branch Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching
This award honors the role of entomological education as a basis for the entire discipline by recognizing a Southwestern Branch member who is deems to the most outstanding educator of the year. The winner of this award will be recognized at the upcoming Southwestern Branch Meeting and will be submitted to the ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching as the Branch nominee for that same year.
