This year, the ESA North Central Branch is pleased to host the Insect Expo. In collaboration with local partners, the Insect Expo is a celebration featuring live insects and interactive displays where entomologists connect with the Greater Des Moines community to inspire curiosity and discover the value of insects in our lives.
Activities Include:
- Live insects and arthropods
- Hands-on microscope and specimen activities
- Insect-themed arts & crafts
- Educational materials from entomologists
- STEM activities hosted by student groups and community partners
The 2026 Expo will take place Sunday, April 19th from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. Everyone is welcome to join us – no registration required.
Get Involved – Volunteer at the Expo
We invite student organizations, ESA members, and non-NCB organizations to participate by brining their insect-themed activities and demonstrations that highlight the diverse outreach efforts within our community. Bring your creativity—this is a chance to share your science, inspire the next generation, and show the public what entomologists do.
Individuals interested in volunteering with the Insect Expo can do so when registering for the meeting.
