Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2003, by Section F Chair Sue L. Blodgett.

Program Committee
Carol A Sheppard and Richard A. Weinzieri will be the program co-chairs for the 2004 meeting.
Sue Blodgett suggested a co-program symposium, Microbial Control of Insect Pests, be proposed with Subsection Ce and Section F. A motion to co-sponsor was voiced and seconded.
Section F is allotted 3 Section symposia.
We can submit any additional symposia for consideration as program symposia.
PowerPoint projectors will be the norm for presentations at the 2004 meeting in Salt Lake City.
Section chairs are responsible for recruiting and committing session moderators and judges for competition within the Section. Please volunteer your time to moderate and to help judge the student poster and talk competitions.
Section F member list should be on the ESA server.

ESA Headquarters Building: The building is now sold.
New Headquarters Office Space: 3,000-3,500 square foot rental space. Lease for three years. Rental cost at $17-18.54 per square foot. Full service rental office space.
Journal Manuscripts: All editors like the Rapid Review process. Less time for processing manuscripts. Acceptance rate at 50-55%.
2003 ESA Budget: $80,550 carryover.
2004 ESA Budget: Passed. $31,564 in the black.
Subsection Fa
Ronald Hammond, Section Fa chair, reported on the meeting, October 27, 2003, at 4:30 p.m.
Announcements: (1) The 16th Biennial IPRI Workshop/Conference will be held March 21-24 at will be held in Lod Cook Conference Center, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA. (2) Pete Clark, Ph.D. student at the University of Nebraska, was the recipient of Entomological Foundation's Kenneth & Barbara Starks Plant Resistance to Insects Graduate Student Research Award.
Election of New Secretary: Secretary Fikru Haile introduced Assefa Gebre-Amlak, extension entomologist at Colorado State University, as the nominee for Section Fa secretary. Assefa was elected for 2004 by vote of proclamation.
Nomination for Section F Secretary: Former Section Fa Chair Bruce Hubbard of the University of Missouri, Columbia, was nominated for Section F Secretary-Elect.
Symposium Proposals: Chair-Elect Tom Clark brought forward two symposia that will be forwarded to Section F: (1) Molecular analyses of host plant resistance to insect herbivores (Organizer: Fiona Goggin, University of Arkansas), and (2) Transgenic corn with rootworm resistance: Current status and the impact of rootworm biology on resistance management. (Organizers: Bruce Hubbard, USDA-ARS University of Missouri, and Thomas Clark, University of Missouri).
Subsection Fb
Dini Miller, Chair Fb reported on the meeting, October 27, 2003, at 4:30 p.m.
Subsection Activities: Chair Miller noted that Subsection Fb was well represented at the 2003 meeting with 86 submitted papers and posters, although that number was down from the 125 papers and posters at the previous meeting in Fort Lauderdale. Also noted was that there were no Section symposia in 2003, but that the student debates in urban entomology were a welcome addition.
Nomination for Section F Secretary-Elect: Nominations were accepted from the members at the meeting for Section F Secretary-Elect for 2004.
Announcements
Members were encouraged to volunteer for the vacant committee and editorial board positions that need to be filled.
Announcements from the preliminary meeting were repeated.
